Tornado + Delphos = Yikes

The National Weather Service in Northern Indiana and Van Wert County Emergency Management confirmed that a weak EF1 tornado touched down in eastern Van Wert County during the early morning hours of Friday.

The tornado touched down approximately 3 miles southwest of Delphos and 0.5 miles south of State Road 697 on Bockey Road at 1:47 a.m. The tornado heavily damaged several large oak trees, with trunks snapped near the ground in some cases. The most intense damage was noted here. Circulation was evident in the debris pattern, most noted with a storage shed, which had golf balls embedded in an eastern flank wall. The 8X8 aluminum shed had also lost its roof. The tornado continued on an ENE trajectory toward Delphos, with damage observed along Brickner and Mox Roads. The tornado entered the southwest side of Delphos, with damage noted at a grain elevator and along First Street, where several structures received some degree of damage. The last observed point of damage occurred at the US 30/Lincoln Highway interchange where a Morton barn was destroyed. In all, 23 structures sustained damage to some degree. Total path length was 5 miles with a maximum width of approximately 80 yards. Maximum wind speed was estimated at 86 to 93 mph.

So I'm a country girl, I grew up surrounded by fields etc, so you can imagine my surprise when I awoke at Mechanic Guy's house...at two. a.m. to the sound of what at first I thought was a really loud moped.  (like i said, i was asleep and not all with it)...when I finally started to come-to, I realized that what I was hearing was the tornado siren going off.  I put my hand on Mechanic Guy's back and was like "baby....baby?!?!?!  is that the tornado siren?"  he says "Yeah!  lay back down!"....(as you can tell, he's not EXACTLY the kind of guy who gets alarmed easy!...seriously, that guy has like five alarms going off in the morning to wake him! *laughs*).....anyway, buy the time he said "lay back down" the alarm was finished, and I did as I was told...I laid back down and listened to the storm move on to the North East.....

It wasn't until the next morning, when i looked at my phone and saw i missed a text from my roommate that said:  "hope you're safe, me and chubs are in the basement"....things got even MORE surreal when I headed home that I saw what I'd missed at my house down on First Street.....

 {one of my Neighbors' Houses}

And this is what the whole street looked like.  Shingles peppered my grass in the back yard....people's chimney's were blown off....there were trees where there hadn't been trees before, and places where there used to be trees that no longer resided there.  It was a little bit of a mess.

While observing all the damage....I just laughed to myself at Mechanic Guy saying:  "just lay back down!"...like I was such a sissy for worrying!  Thing is, I trust the guy so much...I was like...alright!

The one time a tornado comes down my street, and I've never been so happy to have a boyfriend who's house that i sometimes stay at.  And a roommate who will save my dog's canine life in my absence.  All good things!

Lately, my life has been nothing but blessings....
This just being another one.

To Screw, or Not to Screw....

To Screw or Not to Screw
THAT is the question!

I was talking to my friend....ummm...."Brandt" the other day......and he was complaining about what ALL men complain about.....not getting laid by his wife enough.  Anyone who has male married friends has heard this before.....and anyone who's been married, is susceptible to falling victim of the NO SEX HAZE that creeps in and puts your sex life in a "time out".....with no expected time of release.

It's scary, it's frustrating, it's torture.

Well unless it's YOU doing the withholding, then I'm not quite sure the pleasure and power derived with wielding this kind of power doesn't take away your ability to see that while you're holding out on your spouse, you're also depriving YOURSELF of something oh so pleasurable.

So....why would someone NOT want to be intimate with their husband / Wife?
Well, I suppose there are reasons....perhaps they don't have good personal hygiene, perhaps they are bastards and you hate their guts....perhaps it's the ole saying "you don't want to kiss the mouth that bitches at you all day long"....so there are SOME explanations to start...

I wonder if it's possible that a role reversal of Husband and Wives maybe could also do it.

My friend Brandt is a stay at home dad, he cooks, he cleans, he takes care of the kids....he does laundry, dishes, he attends all the kiddies functions....

So I did a little research as to "HOW TO GET A WOMAN IN THE MOOD"...and this is what it said:
-----------------------------------------------------
Here are ten simple ideas for men, to help women become more interested in physical intimacy. The purpose of this list is not to create a superficial list of things men must do so they can have more sex; it is intended as some ideas to help a relationship become closer and more intimate so the sexual relationship can be a healthy and satisfying one for both partners.

1. Show appreciation - be specific and clear by noticing and expressing your gratitude for her.

2. Be kind, considerate, and compassionate, - noticing and caring for her needs; treat her as you did when you first were in love.

3. Disclose your need for her - be open as you allow yourself to be vulnerable.

4. Notice some specific wonderful traits about her - and share what you notice with your wife.

5. Compliment her for specific things - what is beautiful about your wife? Notice her physical beauty as well as her character, mind, creativity, etc. The more sexy a woman feels the more she is inclined to desire physical intimacy.

6. Tell her how you adore and cherish her - it is often difficult for a woman to want to be intimate when she does not feel important or significant.

7. Help her to feel special in your eyes - what is it that YOU admire and love most?

8. Let her know she is the most important person in your life - women respond best when they feel they are the most significant woman in your life.

9. Be affectionate - in non-sexual ways without an ulterior motive.

10.Express your love - honestly, openly, and deeply.
----------------------------------------

So what if you're doing these things....my friend specifically told me:  "i do all them things it mentions. kiss her cheek when she leaves, say i love you when she goes to work or bed and always tend to her needs.. i drop whatever I'm doing to help her with whatever but she never says love you nor a kiss out of the blue. I'm just doing whatever i can to make everyone happy here, except me of course"

So, What can he do MORE, or DIFFERENTLY than he's doing now?  Is it possible, that due to him being the domestic one, that somehow their roles are reversed emasculating him making him UN-sexual to his wife?

It's tough for me to give advice on this subject since I'm in the beginning stages of a relationship...and all it takes for me to want to climb on top of my boyfriend is his mischevious smile....so I'm left scratching my head...what can I tell my friend that might help him?

Frankly, I think the stuff in that list above are bullshit.  That stuff will make me LOVE my mate, but it won't make me want to rip his clothes off.  Personally, while it's great to LOVE the person you're sleeping with, establishing a loving connection when you have intimate moments...that's not what makes me hot and bothered and feeling frisky.

I told my friend...."why does a lion chase something that's running? even if it's a raised in captivity....and never killed a live creature before....because it's instinct tells them to."  Sex isn't always about LOVE, sometimes it's just instinctual, animalistic....NATURAL as the sun coming up in the morning.

My guy will often times "accidentally" rub up against my boobs...like if we're at the grocery store, or just passing each other in the kitchen....he says things like "nice ass"....and a girl can appreciate that.  He's expressing his physical attraction to me...and who doesn't want to feel like their man sees them sexually.  In that moment, he's not thinking about what a great person I am...he's thinking about doing dirty things with me....so, the article above...like I said, "I" think is bullshit when it comes to making a woman in the mood for sex!

What do you guys think?  What gets you "in the mood"?  Flowers and candlelight?  Foot massages and bubble baths?  Beer and Pizza?

It's easy in the beginning of a relationship....
but what happens when the honeymoon phase is over?
What keeps your sex life afloat with your long-term significant other?

If the sex fizzles, did you marry the wrong person?  Do ALL couples suffer this?
Is Brandt alone?

Where to start....

That's the thing about blogging, you can't start at "The Beginning" when your blog has been in existence since 2005....what constitutes "the beginning" anyway.....?

So were does one begin...again?

Well, I guess I'll start just....um, at today....and we'll see how that goes....

So much has happened.....changed since I last wrote here, and I think one of the major reasons I quit writing....quit reading.....QUIT, was because I was lost.  There have been times when I've been lost and WANTED to write my way through it, but this time.....this time, I just retreated from everything....most of all my blog.  I didn't want to write about things I had no idea about.....I didn't want to write about a situation that I was unable to describe with words.....I didn't want to hurt in print....and bleed all over in here.  I just needed a minute to let the dust settle here at Random Thoughts of a Restless Mind.....and frankly, I wasn't really sure I'd blow the dust off again.  But yesterday I was really feeling like writing.....(shocking i know)....and then I had all kind of hardship getting my blog name back, because i deleted it, then i had to undelete it, and then anyway, it was a bunch of red tape, but here I am.  I'm here....my fingers are pounding the keyboard.....and I haven't even begun to tell you anything of any real consequence.  Which is why I quit blogging.....see how this vicious cycle can flounder even the best attempts.....?

Today, EmilyB, fellow blogger and a girl whom, well, I connect with.....who i lovingly refer to her as my "imaginary/invisible friend".....she wrote to me and said that she missed me....and it dawned on me, that I missed her too.  I missed her, I missed those people whom I grown to <3 here......and while I did desperately need to time away, to regroup, recollect, breathe, I hated abandoning my friends (you know who you are).  So let me say I'm sorry...if anyone felt that I didn't care and walked away and forgot all about you...this is where I say the INFAMOUS:  "It wasn't you, it was me".....

But i'm here now......

I don't know if any one is reading this, I don't know if anything I have to say contributes to anything in the grand scheme of things....

but....I just wanted to say...."Hi."
