So last night....I get a call....from a friend of mine that I haven't talked to for a minute....
and the following conversation transpires:
Friend: So, I have some bad news for you Heather....
Me: What's up?
Friend: It's about your ex-husband.
Me: What's he dying or something?
Friend: No, no, nothing like that....
Me: Is he having having his baby and naming it after me?
Friend: No, but it does have to do with his baby!
Me: Shit, I'm the mother aren't I? Who told?!?!?!
Friend: No! DORK! It's, well, it's about the name.
Me: What about it?
Friend: Well, when you and {insert x's name here} were trying to get pregnant...didn't you have a name picked out?
Me: Yeah...I've had the same names picked out since the 5th grade. Why?
Friend: Well, I think they are steeling your baby name!
Me: What name are they going with?
Friend: W****
Me: Well that's NOT my baby name! lol Mine's Luke! and Eva for a girl. Eva after my great grandmother and Luke, well must be from all the duke's of hazard i watched as a kid er sumthing...
anyway, I thought it was sooooooo funny that people thought I'd be mad if they stole my baby name! I mean, first she steels my husband, then my dog....then my HOUSE....starts sleeping and screwing my husband, in MY bed, enjoys my newly remodeled bathroom....but they thought the baby name would be the breaking point of my sanity! *laughs and laughs*....People, she/they can name that dang baby any darn thing they like! What the hell do I care?!
Now....if the replacement wife dyes her hair red, gets a boob job, legally changes her name to HeatherLynn, gets a big ole ivy tattoo on her back....well, THEN...THEN I'd have to draw the damn line in the sand and put my foot down!
But otherwise....
This SOOOOO does not concern me!
Happy Baby Making ex-hubby!
I hope it comes out with red hair like the hair in your beard...and the hair on my head....
One thing me and my ex husband would of had, and that's THE MOST ADORABLE redhaired babies!
So you can imagine my grin should I hear that my replacement has to kiss a little redhead goodnight each night! She wants my old life, she should have to have my little O*****-looking babies too!
That I have a serious fascination with Serial Killers? It's been an ongoing thing since College....probably back even further, but it was most memorable in College after my freshman year English Class where I wrote my research paper on Serial Killers. I did a lot of research, a lot of reading, a lot of thinking about the subject....and I've been basically hooked ever since. I realize that this makes me dark and twisted in a way to be fascinated by something so morbid, but let me stress that I do NOT ENJOY the matter, so much as am drawn to the story. I feel terrible empathy for the victims, the victims families, I haven't lost that at all....and I'm not a closet criminal....but well, Crime is something that engages me, captivates my attention....it's why I work in a law firm that practices criminal law among others....I think I might of watched "Silence of the Lambs" too many times as a kid or something.....in my impressionable years.
So, anyway, I told you all of that, to share THIS with you.....the below story is one I found online recently, and I was absolutely engrossed with. Not only, do you have a NEW killer to read up on, but you have a Killer who's IQ rated him near genius. You have a new killer who was a photographer, a fine art's major in college, who.....brutally raped and murdered women, posed them, ejaculated on them....and who was smart enough to have TWO murder convictions over turned on appeal....ANDDDDDD....who was on "The Dating Game"...where he beat out the other two bachelors and won a date with the girl! This story has so much to offer.....including no shortage of death. :( Little girls from coast to coast....murdered, raped, beaten, tortured....by a man who was first CONVICTED in the 1968 kidnapping, and brutal attack of an 8 year old....an 8 year old he raped, and nearly beat to death....he was arrested in 1971 and released back into society in 1974. He raped and beat an 8 year old nearly to DEATH with a steel pipe, and in less than 4 years was back out on the prowl. Can you believe that? I've seen people here go to jail longer than that for a drunk driving accident....not a brutal attempted murder and rape of a child!
Anyway, here's the story....forgive my morbid subject matter....but I just think it's so important that we never forget the people we share our planet with. As you all know, I can be naive, and blind to the darkness in people at times.....so it's really important to take into account that while there aren't really monsters under your bed when you're a kid....there ARE monsters....they are just harder to recognize....when they look as normal as you....as me....as our 3rd grade teacher....as our next door neighbor....
(Feb. 25) -- A California jury today found accused serial killer Rodney Alcala guilty of murdering four Los Angeles County women and a girl from Huntington Beach between 1977 and 1979.
Alcala could receive a death sentence when the penalty phase of the trial begins Tuesday.
The guilty verdict comes as a relief to family members of the victims -- especially those of Robin Samsoe, a 12-year-old girl slain 31 years ago. Alcala had stood trial twice before in the girl's death, but each time his conviction was overturned because of a different technicality.
Nick Ut, AP
Rodney Alcala, a former U.S. Army clerk, had previously been convicted twice for the murder of 12-year-old Robin Samsoe, but both convictions were overturned. Here, he sits in Orange County Superior Court in Santa Ana, Calif., last month.
Undeterred, prosecutors again filed charges in Robin's case in 2005, along with charges in the cases of four other women whose deaths were linked to Alcala using DNA evidence, prosecutors said.
"DNA is one of the major investigative tools of our time," Los Angeles County District Attorney Steve Cooley said in a 2005 press release. "The Alcala case shows that DNA evidence can stretch back into time to help prosecute murders such as these that go back nearly a quarter of a century."
Alcala, 66, is a former U.S. Army clerk, Los Angeles Times typesetter, amateur photographer and UCLA fine-arts grad who reportedly has a near-genius IQ of 135. In 1978, Alcala appeared in an episode of the ABC prime-time show "The Dating Game." In it, Alcala beat out two other bachelors to win a date with "bachelorette" Cheryl Bradshaw. The couple appeared to get along well on the show, but police said Bradshaw later decided against the date.
Alcala's reign of terror is believed to have begun in 1968, when he abducted an 8-year-old girl in Hollywood. Alcala might have gotten away with the crime, but a witness spotted him luring the child into his vehicle and followed him to his apartment before alerting police. When police arrived on the scene, Alcala ran out a back door. Inside, police found the girl, identified only in court documents as "Tali," lying on the floor. She had been raped and nearly beaten to death with a steel pipe.
It took investigators nearly three years to track Alcala to New Hampshire. A tipster had recognized him from the FBI's 10 Most Wanted list. He was living under the assumed name, John Berger, and working as a teen counselor.
On Aug. 12, 1971, Alcala was arrested and extradited to Los Angeles to face rape and attempted murder charges.
Alcala was convicted, but he did not stay behind bars long. He was released in 1974 after a state prison psychiatrist ruled that he was ready to be released.
In 1974, just two months after he was paroled, Alcala was arrested after a 13-year-old girl known only in court records as "Julie J." told police he had kidnapped her in Huntington Beach. When the case later went to trial, Alcala was found guilty of violating parole and providing drugs to a minor. He served roughly two years before earning his release, at which time he traveled to New York for a brief period before returning to California.
Upon his return to the West Coast, Alcala was again arrested in early 1979, when a teen hitchhiker called police and reported that she had just escaped from a man who had kidnapped and raped her. Police identified Alcala as the suspect and took him into custody. He was released after his mother posted his $10,000 bond.
As Alcala was awaiting trial on the most recent case, authorities received a report on June 20, 1979, that 12-year-old Robin Samsoe had disappeared en route to ballet class. Less than two weeks later, a park ranger found her body dumped in a wooded area near Sierra Madre. Witnesses told police they had seen Robin talking to a photographer at a beach the day the girl went missing. A composite sketch of the suspect was released to the media, at which time Alcala's parole officer recognized him and notified police.
When police questioned Alcala, he denied involvement and claimed he was working at the time of the incident. Unconvinced, authorities conducted a search of his home, during which they found a receipt for a storage locker in Seattle. When detectives later opened the locker, they found several photos of young girls, as well as earrings that allegedly belonged to Robin.
Alcala was arrested on July 24, 1979, and charged with her murder.
In 1980, a jury found Alcala guilty of murdering Robin and sentenced him to death. Alcala quickly filed an appeal and this conviction was later overturned by the California Supreme Court, because the original trial judge had allowed the jury to hear about Alcala's child-rape and kidnapping incidents.
Prosecutors retried the murder case against Alcala in 1986 and once more won a conviction, but in 2001 that decision was again overturned when a 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals panel ruled that the second trial judge did not allow the testimony of a defense witness who claimed the park ranger who found Robin's body had been hypnotized by police.
Unwilling to give up on the case, Matt Murphy, an Orange County senior deputy district attorney, began putting together a new strategy when he learned that a recent DNA test conducted on Alcala allegedly matched DNA evidence in two unsolved homicides from the 1970s.
The victims, Georgia Wixted, 27, and Charlotte Lamb, 32, had been slain in 1977 and 1978, respectively. Both victims had been raped and killed and both had been posed by their killer. Semen was found at the scene, but detectives had been unable to match it to a possible suspect.
After receiving the DNA test results, prosecutors in both Orange and Los Angeles counties began to examine other cold cases. The following year, they linked another case to Alcala when they allegedly matched his DNA to Jill Barcomb, an 18-year-old woman killed in 1977. Like Wixted and Lamb, Barcomb had also been posed and semen was found on her body.
Not long after identifying Barcomb's case, prosecutors began to look at the unsolved murder of Jill Parenteau. The 21-year-old victim's body had been found inside her apartment in 1979. She had been sexually assaulted, beaten and strangled. The killer had also posed her body.
In Barcomb's case, a rape test had been performed, but the evidence was not preserved. Her killer did, however, cut himself while crawling through a broken window. Analysis of that blood found it matched roughly 3 percent of the population. As a result, authorities could not rule out or confirm Alcala was the perpetrator. Nevertheless, they did find a witness who could place Alcala with Parenteau at a bar prior to her death.
As a result of the investigation into the cold cases, Alcala was indicted for the murders of Barcomb, Wixted, Lamb and Parenteau. Besides the murders, the indictment alleged special circumstances of torture, multiple murder, robbery, rape, burglary and oral copulation.
Los Angeles and Orange County district attorneys decided that the best place to try the cases was in Orange County, where Alcala was already facing retrial for Robin's murder. They also decided to try the five murders in a single case.
Alcala pleaded not guilty to all charges and elected to represent himself.
Meanwhile, authorities in New York announced their belief that Alcala could be responsible for at least two unsolved killings that occurred there during the 1970s.
In 1971, TWA flight attendant Cornelia "Michael" Crilley was raped and strangled. At the time, authorities initially suspected Crilley's boyfriend was responsible, but now claim to have saliva evidence that links Alcala to the scene.
In 1977, someone killed Manhattan socialite Ellen Hover, 23. Her body was found on the Rockefeller Estate in suburban Westchester County. Investigators found a datebook inside Hover's apartment that showed she had an appointment with a "John Berger" on the day she was killed. John Berger is the alias Alcala was using when he was arrested in New Hampshire in 1971. Alcala has allegedly admitted to knowing Hover but denies killing her.
It remains unclear if charges will be filed in either of the New York cases.
Alcala's trial in the California cases began on Jan. 11. During the six-week trial, DNA and other evidence was presented in each of the cases, but much of the trial centered on Robin's murder.
Murphy presented witnesses who testified that they had seen Alcala attempting to take photos of the girl on the beach before she disappeared. Murphy also called Marianne Connelly, Robin's mother, to the stand. She testified that the gold-ball earrings recovered from Alcala's rented storage locker belonged to her daughter.
In defending himself, Alcala also focused on Robin's death and did not offer testimony in regard to the other cases. Alcala did not deny photographing girls on the beach where Robin was last seen, but claimed he did not photograph her. He also claimed he was interviewing for a job at the time she went missing. As evidence of this, he called several witnesses who he claimed could place him at the interview; however, none of them was able to pinpoint the exact day he came in.
In regard to the earrings found in his storage locker, Alcala claimed they belonged to him. As evidence, he entered a video clip into evidence, taken during the 1978 episode of "The Dating Game" in which he appeared. Alcala instructed the jury to pay close attention to one particular shot, in which they would be able to see that he was wearing gold-ball earrings.
"You'll see a flash of my hair going up and a flash of gold," he testified. "Two little specks, you'll see that."
When Alcala played the video, he never paused it or attempted to point out the frame in question. Despite his intent, the evidence appeared to be lost on the jury.
Closing arguments in the trial began Monday, with Murphy telling the jury that Alcala was a "hunter" with "no soul or feeling," who killed because he "enjoyed it."
"You will never see cases with more brutality," Murphy said. "All of these victims put up resistance and he punished them for it. ... He tortured his victims because he enjoyed it."
When it came time to present his own closing arguments, Alcala told the jury that the evidence against him in Robin's case was based on "gimmicks" and "lies." He attacked Connelly's testimony and said she made up the story about her daughter's earrings in order to implicate him in the murder.
"I'm not trying to make Mrs. Connelly into a bad person," Alcala said. "She deserves your empathy and your sympathy because she lost her daughter, ... but it does not give her the right to make up a story."
The jury began deliberating late Tuesday and continued to do so until this afternoon, when they found Alcala guilty of five counts of murder.
In keeping in line with my slasher.....blood and guts, thriller movie tastes these days, my latest Net Flix Movie experience was this piece of work.
This is a re-make of the 1972 Wes Craven Film.
Ok, stop reading if you care about spoiling your viewing pleasure:
{I was told nearly exactly what the movie was about by a friend before I watched it, and it didn't ruin anything as far as I was concerned though FYI}
So, family goes on vacation in the stix. Family has recently dead son and seventeen year old daughter. 17 year old girl, (a big swimmer)....borrows the car and goes into town to meet up with pot smoking old friend....
Girls meet boy, boy has pot, they go to his motel to smoke....
In walks escaped convict father of boy, uncle of boy and some crazy chick who we think is Father's girfriend.
They decide it's too risky to let the girls go, since they've seen thier faces, etc. so they kidnap them.
I won't tell you all the torture the girls sustain, but it's pretty graphic.
On thing I will warn you about is that there is a nearly like 10 minute rape scene, that well, lets just say, you nearly feel raped just by watching it. Seventeen year old girl, BRUTALLY raped...while a group watches....yeah, it was a bit much to watch...and lasted WAY too long....so that part's a lot to sit through....
Then....long story short, they dispose of the girls. Or so they think. Swimmer girl swims home across the lake, with a gunshot wound to the back....
And then shit really gets crazy. She gets home, only to find that the crazy group of convicts are staying in the guest house at her parents under the guise of being stranded after a automobile accident. Stormy night, power outages...and carnage ensue when Daddy swim girl finds out his daughter's been raped.....and the people who did it are right next door.
I squirmed, I might of even made some squeemish noises.....and covered my eyes once....
the acting's kinda bad, but the movie was kinda good.
Oscar worthy, absolutely not, watch on dvd worthy...
sure, why not.
If you like movies like this anyway.
If you watch it, be sure to let me know what you think of THE dramatic conclusion....
Ok, so me and my little sister (who reads this btw....Everyone say HI to my little sister Brooke)....Well we got in a HUUUUUUGE fight the other day.
For One, we've not been talking as much lately as we always used to, life has just kicked us both into different directions, and we've just been out of each others loop
Add in the fact that the start of this year has had me a little down in the mouth and disgruntled...withdrawn...cranky...ya'll know, you've been here with me, so you know...
So while on the phone with Brooke, she says to me (and totally catches me off guard btw)...."I don't even know who you are anymore, everything that comes out of your mouth is negative!"
*crinkles forehead*
"really? Well what do you want from me exactly?"
You want me to be shooting rainbows and sunshine out my freaking eyeballs? Do I not get the luxury of being bitchy EVER??! Am I not allowed to be disheartened, disgruntled, pissy, or just bummed?! I'm human, I'm allowed to be a sucky human too sometimes aren't I?
So well, lets just say THAT comment was a catalyst for what was about to come next....
Then she says: "Well, what's it going to take Heather? What's it going to take to make you happy?
I say: Well, do you think you can make my job secure? no? how about...well how about send MG back my way as if he'd never bailed? No? Not that one either? Well then, nope, not going to get instant gratification on this one, i just need to tough it out until i feel better....summer will come, that will help. When I can sit on my front porch, barefooted, with a good book.....and enjoy a lazy weeknight....lounging....as the sun sets nearly at 9:00 p.m. Yeah, I might be better, happier...then.
Then I said: "Oh, and getting my tattoo, THAT has been really exciting and has been keeping my spirits up lately, So getting that done will also really cheer me up."
She's like: "Tattoo? What are you talking about? You're getting a tattoo? does mom know?"
I say: "yeah, mom knows...I figured she told you?"
She asks me about where i'm getting it, how large it is, etc, etc....and then she tells me how much she HATES this idea, and highly disapproves!
I ask her what the big effin deal is (as I'm already pissy over the whole "i don't even know who you are anymore" comment of earlier....
Next thing you know, she says and I quote: "Well, what if I want backless dresses for my wedding, I won't be able to have you in my wedding because you'll be too trashy!"
I was like....UMMMMMMMMMMMMMM....what did you just say?!?!?!?
Did you just tell me that I'm trash if i get a tattoo?
She says: "you're being dramatic, I don't think YOU are trash, but getting that huge tattoo on your back IS TRASHY! You will LOOK TRASHY!"
I say, "So let me get this straight, I can't be in your wedding if I get this tattoo?"
Never mind the fact that we are discussing a hypothetical wedding, seeing as my sister's not even engaged, or dating anyone at the moment....and Never mind the fact that I have huge boobs, there's no way I'd wear strapless OR backless as a bridesmaid ANYWAY!!!!! But here we are, bitching like crazy about a wedding that's not even in the works, but a tattoo that TOTALLY IS!
Other topics of this conversation as I tried to plea my case to her FOR the pro-tattoo crowd....She said that Tattoos were NOT trashy on guys...but on girls it was! So now, now I'm pissed that she's singling out the ladies. She tells me that she should ALWAYS be able to be honest and tell me how she feels....
and i wonder....for real? Is that really always the case? If SHE wanted to get a big fat tattoo and I didn't much like tattoos, I'd say what I always say in situations that apply to other people "TO EACH THEIR OWN"....what the fuck do I care what's on my sister's back? She wants it, it's not going to kill her....yeah, have at it! It won't affect MY life one way or the other....so why's she think telling me that she'll think I look trashy is a good idea? Is that EVER a good idea to tell someone you love..."YOU LOOK LIKE TRASH!!!"
Is honesty NOT the best policy? Is that what I'm saying?
No, honesty is...and if I had ASKED her...
"Dearest sister, what do you think about me getting a tattoo? Do you approve of my decision?"
Well, then, I suppose have at it, tell me what you think....
But for one, I did not ask her opinion on the subject. I stated the fact I was getting a tattoo. As in, decision's made...not asking for advice, approval, or the like....so, what did telling me I'd be trash really help? Other than just pissing me off?! And you KNOW I'm pissed if I'm cursing at my little sister. She doesn't drink, smoke, take recreational pain pills on "Painkiller and Pancake Fridays".....she goes to church, she has good personal hygiene...she loves her dog, washes her car dutifully, and likely NEVER litters! She's just not the kind of girl I just tell to "go fuck yourself" to....but I didn't hold back, I really was hollering at her! And I felt angry from the tip of my head, to the tips of my toes. Sisters have this amazing gift to piss you off more than any other person in your life! Why is that? Does anyone know?
Now, before you all think I hate my sister, naturally, i don't hate her, i love her, but sometimes in life, you look at your family and you think....WOW we are so NOT cut from the same cloth. I imagine that's how my mom, all while growing up, used to look at me. SHE ALSO hates tattoos, bikers, smoking, drinking, etc, etc....it's taken a long time for my mom to realize that her prejudices are not my own! My mind allows for all sorts of questionable things, people, lifestyles to be acceptable in my eyes....and even my mother, who let me just say IS NOT impressed with my decision to get this tattoo....she did the RIGHT thing in this situation, and she said "Heather, I know you're going to do what you're going to do, you always DO!....but I don't want to know about it, or see it, you know how I feel about tattoos!" and she's 100% right, I DO know how she feels....but on the flip side of that coin, she knows....she's entitled her her opinion...just as much as I'm entitled to my tattooability.
There's one thing that I hate....no, let me re-phrase that, there's one thing I HHHHHHHHAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTEEEEEEEE
and that's judgment and close-mindedness.
DO NOT JUDGE OTHERS, FOR WHAT YOU YOURSELF IS EITHER TOO AFRAID TO DO, OR TOO CLOSE MINDED TO UNDERSTAND.
Life is full of all sorts of people....(including horny ole Santa Claus types, and boy annoying cheerleaders....and tattoo trashy women/men....and hypocritical Christians, and whores, and liars....lawyers.....funny people, drug addicted people....criminals and saints too...) THe point is, the one thing we ALL have in common is that we're all PEOPLE! We may be all sorts of diffent from one another, but at the end of the day, we all have THAT in common...we're all human....and magically unique....embrace that, don't judge it. Embrace it.
and with that said, I leave you with this: One of my OLD, OLD favorite songs from forever ago....this song is so ME!
Casey Kasem (FAMOUS RADIO PERSONAILTY): This is a long distance dedication to Heather's little sister Brooke who DID hurt Heather's feelings....but Brooke, if you're reading this, this song is for you....from your sister who loves you and says you can shove your tattoo views up your little sister butt! Hugs & Luv, Your sister Heather! (seriously, Brooke I don't agree with you, but I won't be mad long.....and tattoos aren't TRASHY!!!! You just don't "get it"....you're either a tattoo person, or you aren't!)
xoxoxo
~hl~
ENJOY!
Lyrics for those who can't watch this:
Well, I was raised in a sophisticated kind of style.
Yeah, my taste in music and women drove my folks half wild.
Mom and Dad had a plan for me,
It was debutantes and er-symphonies,
But I like my music hot and like my women wild.
Yeah, an' I like my women just a little on the trashy side,
When they wear their clothes too tight and their hair is dyed.
Too much lipstick an' er too much rouge,
Gets me excited, leaves me feeling confused.
An' I like my women just a little on the trashy side.
You should've seen the looks on the faces of my Dad and Mom,
When I showed up at the door with a date for the senior prom.
They said: "Well, pardon us, son, she ain't no kid.
That's a cocktail waitress in a Dolly Parton wig."
I said: "I know it, dad. Ain't she cool, That's the kind I dig."
Yeah, an' I like my women just a little on the trashy side,
When they wear their clothes too tight and their hair is dyed.
Too much lipstick an' er too much rouge,
Gets me excited, leaves me feeling confused.
An' I like my women just a little on the trashy side.
Instrumental break.
I like 'em sweet, I like 'em with a heart of gold.
Yeah an' I like 'em brassy, I like 'em brazen and bold.
Well, they say that opposites attract, well, I don't agree
I want a woman just as tacky as me.
Yeah, I like my women just a little on the trashy side.
Yeah, an' I like my women just a little on the trashy side,
When they wear their clothes too tight and their hair is dyed.
Too much lipstick an' er too much rouge,
Gets me excited, leaves me feeling confused.
An' I like my women just a little on the trashy side.
Yeah, I like my women an' I like 'em on the trashy side.
Ok, so ya'll know that my job may or may not be nixed in the near future.....that's still to be determined at this point.....so in an effort to secure my financial future and homeownership stability, I once more had set out to find a roommate. I don't want to, and so long as I retain my employment, i don't actually NEED one, but I wanted to be one step ahead of the game, so I once more, boldly (stupidly) put an ad on Craig's list...hoping that some random NON-Serial Killer would see my ad and be the answer to my prayers!
I'm so optimistic it should be a crime shouldn't it?
Anyway, so after my first roommate experience didn't go so well....
I mean.....it was gawd awful to the point of suicide....
You can imagine my unwillingness to want to do this a second time....but weeks after I placed my ad, someone inquired about my room for rent. An older gentleman we'll call "Danny"....Danny turned out to be a 58 year old male, employed locally, but lived out of town with his wife, but was here for work for the next 4 years and looking for a place to reside Sunday through Thursday. Perfect right?! #1-he's married, so he's not looking to hook up with a younger female #2-NO WEEKENDS OR HOLIDAYS w/ my roommate #4-he's older, likely goes to bed early since he got up super early for work....and he'd be up and attem before I even got out of bed so no conflicting morning schedule! Perfect I thought.
So we set it up, he came to look at the place....My friend Jim (aka JimmyB) came over to protect me should Danny turn out to be the "Craig's List Killer"....
Jim arrives and says "I hope you know I just committed a crime for you" and then shows me the heat he's packing in his waist of his pants....and this is why Jim's THE BEST body guard....the man comes packing the heat!
Anyway, so Danny shows up, white hair and goatee, nice vehicle, wearing jeans and cologne....seemingly well groomed, clean....normal looking. I show him the place, we chat a bit (ok, "I" chat a bit....as I get chatty when i'm nervous according to Jim who was quick to give me shit about being a "chatty cathy" upon Danny's departure).....and that was it. I wasn't murdered, Jim didn't get to bust any caps in anyone's asses....and I didn't hear from Danny again...until TODAY.
Today, I get the following E-mail:
hiya cutie. just thought i'd let you know, have found an upstairs apt over a garage for $325 a month with everything included. you had been the one until i looked at this place last night. want to thank you for allowing me to see your place and wish you the best of luck finding a roomy. take care girl, danny
p.s. your a lot better looking than your pic!! ;)
so I write back to him the following:
hey there! thought I scared you off! Well, and upon receipt of this....guess I did! lol
it's ok, best of luck at your new place.
as for your "PS"....usually it's the other way around! Thank you. :)
~hl~
Then he says back:
no sweetie, you didn't scare me off. this place was closer and a few dollars less, which are the only two reasons it won out over your place. you're just lucky i wasn't a few years younger!!! lol
Me:
and married! lol
Him:
we have a very open marriage, so during the week, she does her thing and i do mine.
So at this point, um I'm not entirely sure what to say so I make up something random like this:
hmmmm....well...if you gotta spend weeks a year away from one another, guess it helps when you can compromise in each of your comfort levels.
~hl~
Pretty vague huh?
he says back:
yes it does hon. plus she is a few years older than me and has lost her drive. so since i'm down here and she's up there, she agreed to allow me to do my own thing, if she can do hers. i just have to be extra careful as to who i pick up, if you get my drift. that shit can kill you now days!! lol
So I say:
especially living around lima....it's dirty out there.
He says back:
yeah, how well i know and that makes it that much harder.
And then it dawns on me that the old codger is what appears like....hitting on me....or at least feeling me out for if I'm interesting in being his little Lima area whore Sunday - Thursday.
But me being me, I refuse to be rude, so instead of calling him pervert....I say:
well, be careful out there....
when you are dealing with Lima....not everything is what it seems.
I know, I work for a criminal attorney.....I know how bad it is out there.
he replied with a relieving:
will do sweetie. take care hon. danny
But I'm still like....here I was, thinking that because he was married, because he was nearly twice my age, that he wouldn't be "like that"....
I didn't need to "worry"....
He smelled nice, drove a nice vehicle, had a respectible job....a WIFE!!! Kids, Grandkids!!....for crying out loud...so on paper, he was totally legit.
But legit or not, he STILL was interested in doinking me! And I'm not being egotistical here, he so did and you know it. Calling me "cutie", "hon"...."sweetie" ...that wasn't grandpa talk as I oringinally suspected...that was you look clean, let's do IT! talk is what that was!
*swallows vomit back down my throat*
It's like being hit on by Santa Claus...minus the reindeer.
and this concludes this chapter of "If it can happen...It can happen to me"
Just another story of why you should not get roommates off of Craigslist! lol
Alright, So I needed a roommate right? Well I got one.
He is a He. He is 21. He is Jewish Cheerleader and is petrified of Ants/bugs. He walks around in his underwear....keeps 300 unused condoms in his laptop computer case...He's never washed a dish by hand in his entire life and he's driving me absolutely up an effin wall.
I have absolutely no personal space, no time to free myself of his constant chatter about mind numbing things like 3 hours straight of talking to me about cable television. He wants to talk to me about packages available, pricing, maintenance, HD boxes, cable installation, billing, price comparisons between cable and dish, satellite positioning....and on, and on and on. That was the first six days of conversation. One day he says to me, as he's talking, killing millions more of my brain cells he says, "I bet you are getting sick of me talking about cable huh?"....and I look at him as serious as my face gets and says "Well, it sure isn't my favorite topic of discussion!"...yet he rattled on about cable some more just to spite me I believe.
I go to my room to get some "me time"...he tries to talk to me through my door. He was talking to me the other day, something again borderline-suicide-inflicting....and in the middle of the conversation, I couldn't take it, i just got up and walked out of the room. I went in the bathroom. Sat on the toilet and started cutting my toe nails. He followed me in. Kept talking to me, while I cut my toenails...MY TOENAILS. Are there no things I get to do in private anymore? And who follows their roommate in the bathroom anyway? it's the effin bathroom!!!
Then.....last Friday, on my way to work, at 8:10 a.m. I get a text message from him telling me that he had a dream that there were a bunch of bugs in the kitchen. Then he says, Well, actually I don't know if it was a dream or if it was real. So think great, the kid has no real grasp on reality, awesome!! Then he says "did you see any bugs in the kitchen this morning before you left?" I said back "No, nothing you must of been dreaming." "He says, I don't know what scares me more, if it was a dream, or if it wasn't"....frankly I think he should of been worried that he can't tell the fuckindifference, but hey, that's just me! Then on my way home, 4:40 p.m., he texts me and says "have you been home yet? did you see any bugs?" I text back, "no, I'm not home yet. He texts: "Well could you check when you get there?" I did, no bugs. I go in to work, at my second job at six. He text messages me six times over the course of the time I worked, each one of them containing the word "bugs".....I wanted to throw my phone in the canal I was so annoyed by it.
So, after working a rather grueling 14 hours at my two jobs, I drive home, deleting alex's non-stop messages from earlier. I get in the driveway and here he comes out the door before I even am all the way out of my car, he's standing on the porch "buggin" me! He tells me the kitchen is "infested" and that he thinks they only come out at night. He took the liberty of getting me quotes on an exterminator. He thinks I should call them tonight and have them come first thing in the morning! "Come in the house, I'll show you them!!" I'm standing by my car smoking....looking at him like I'm going to rip his head off and I say "I will be in to assess the situation in a minute, I'm smoking!!" And damnit, I'm tired, I'm irritable, I've worked my ass off all day to pay for this house that I love, but to have to come home to the guy in my house is absolute torture. I'd rather someone pour acid in my eyeballs and poke me with sticks while i blindly try to thwart my attackers with my bare hands!
Anyway, so this is my Hell, this is my nightmare....and I did this to myself!
NEVER, NEVER, NEVER get a roommate on Craig's List!
Just a little tip from me to you!
And why Am i posting this long lost post you ask?....
You'll see tomorrow!

Welp, it's official....It's been 3 years since my divorce! They say it takes exactly 1/2 the time you were with someone to get over them, well look out, cause, I should, as of yesterday, be officially over my ex, husband of six years....
or maybe it's not "over someone" as it is ready to just move on again. I mean, I've moved on, I've dated, I've moved like to FOUR different places....so yeah, I've moved technically "ON"....but I haven't moved ON in that big way that has people tying the knot, having kids, etc, etc,...and I've always thought over the last three years that it's just because I don't really WANT to ever do those things....using the logic that "if i haven't done it by now (kids) or if I've done it and it didn't work out (marriage)....it's just not my thing"....and maybe it isn't....I find it interesting that recently I blew off "my rainbow"....the man, I NEVER blow off....because he's as non-committal and relationship unfriendly as I am! It's also interesting that I started falling for a guy who not only had a kid, but took said kid with us every where we went....and I LIKED IT IMMENSELY.....these are interesting details....for someone who says she's not cut out for relationships, doesn't think she wants kids....and NEVER wants to get too attached to someone.....This same person who could NEVER commit to a long distance carrier, let alone, a tattoo that will cover 95% of her back...but who now feels "ready".....why now? What's "really" changed? Because I AM READY for my tattoo...just like last year I found myself READY to buy a house....to grab life by the horns...and say....lets do this....and I did, and it was an awesome idea, I am so happy I got the balls to do it....
Three years ago yesterday I was technically divorced...however.....I actually moved out (separated from my ex-husband in September of 2006)....three years later....September 2009....when I should of been OFFICIALLY over my last relationship.....I met Mechanic Guy and happily forsook all others.....completely unintentionally. Think that's a coincidence?
Are there coincidences?
Happy Three Year Anniversary of Divorce to Me!!
They said I'd be miserable and there have been times they were right.....
they said I'd regret it...., I can say with all the certainty in the world: "NEVER!"
Alright, you'll have to forgive me....as I'm not "in the loop" on this whole award phenomenon that has found it's way to Blogger. I have been here since 2005 and up until I met Lee the Hotflash Queen, I didn't even know these "awards" existed. I've gotten a couple recently, and while I'm sincerely honored, I'm also a little baffled, as to what the heck I'm supposed to do with them! lol
So this is my first attempt to be a good little blogger and follow these here award rules:
I think I just suck at following directions, therefore I don't play well with others....and RULES are not my BFF!...but Homesick Cajun was kind enough to include me in her Awards Banquet....so I will honor her, by honoring her honor. Thank You H'S'C.
Here goes:
I have received the Beautiful Blogger Award.
The rules for accepting this award are:
Thank and link to the person who gave you the award.
Pass the award on to 7 bloggers you have discovered and think are fantastic. Of course all bloggers are fantastic!
State 7 things about yourself.
1. I am a "natural" redhead, who dyes her hair an "unnatural" color of red.
2. My boobs are huge....real...and they are a pain in the butt when running. Hence why I am a nocturnal jogger around my small town. Safer for everyone really.
3. Favorite television shows: Brothers & Sisters, Son's of Anarchy, Grey's Anatomy and for a time, I was addicted to LOST (now, not so much).
4. I am an ENFP according to the Meyer Briggs Personality Test:

5. One of THE best Valentines Day presents I ever got, was a pair of Harley Davidson dress shoes from my now ex-husband. I'm wearing them now, and I love them as much today as I did then....even if he and I don't love each other anymore....the shoes I only grow to love more! (THANKS EX-HUSBAND, where ever you are)
6. my hair is naturally wavy
.
7. I work with a lot of criminals in my line of work...and as it turns out, criminals are really just average people, with poor decision making skills. Not all of them are evil sociopaths.
(Who I just want to tell everyone, this girl....made me a video of her son singing me happy birthday....cutest thing I've seen in a long long time! This girl is an absolute Angel....pregnant and snowed in, and she was thinking about ME....doing something sweet for a almost perfect stranger....talk about a heart of gold!)
(let me tell about this girl: A blogger who not only awesome in blogisphere, but also in real life. Carol MADE me a hand made/sewn/stitched with love apron that she then shipped to me for my birthday. And let me tell you, when I wear that gorgeous frock, I feel undeniably loved! THANKS AGAIN CAROL!! You didn't HAVE to ever do that, but I'm so glad you did!)
(oh, the conversations me and L have. she and I wrote nearly a novel just yesterday back and forth....not just a great blogger, but quite a lovely friend.)
(this one....offers such beautiful uplifting inspiration over at her blog.....I find great lessons can be found in reading her posts....notably the religious ones....I go here for accountability sometimes....makes up for me skipping church for like an entire year...I know, I know....I'm a sinner! Oh, and did I mention that me and Lil Miss MJ are going to a concert on Saturday....Blogger gifts the greatest gift of people. True Story!)
For any of my favorite bloggers, you know you you are, if you didn't make THIS list, my angels, don't fret, it's just because I have you cataloged on a DIFFERENT list. So don't feel left out.....maybe I just think you're far too amazingly hilarious, snarky, motivational or sarcastic for this particular listing.
Well let’s see. I was born during the Blizzard of 1978 in Lima, Ohio.
I have lived in Ohio all my life. I like it here. We have corn fields instead of oceans, overpasses instead of mountains and fog instead of smog. Sure it's not the promise land, but sometimes one doesn't need postcard worthy beauty on the outside to have it elsewhere.
I'm a writer for fun, a Paralegal for profession, and while one pays the bills, one feeds my imagination, or perhaps my imagination feeds my writing...either way, Writing is as much of who I am as the color of my eyes, or the way that I smile.
Blogs are great communication tools, and I'm here to communicate with YOU...yeah, you who's reading this right now....*assuming anyone's out there*
*crickets chirp*
Alrightee then, IF anyone should find themselves here, be it by accident or on purpose, welcome, glad to have you aboard. Throw anchor, stay awhile!
Sunshine & Smiles,
~Heather Lynn~
